NOT Thanksgiving Dinner

Color schemes!!! How cool are color schemes, yay! I took a picture of some turkeys at wheeler farm and thought they were cute in their own kind of way. So I picked the image for my color schemes project. These guys are going up in my kitchen next to my stove. They are going to keep a watchful eye on me to make sure none of their family is cooked and eaten.lol. I will post images of them individually here shortly.

This painting was done to show the value of color. I really wanted to try my hand at painting a figure and not to toot my own horn, but I think it came out pretty good! I had trouble matching the same colors I used in the beginning, so I changed the color on several parts numerous times. This is from an image I found off of creative commons and really liked the way the hair was in this image. I hope to improve my photography skills and use only my photos or still life for my paintings in the future.

The act of painting is about one heart telling another heart where he found salvation.

– Francisco Goya

Found this quote today and really liked it.

The Blue Jar

This painting was for painting number 2. My journey to beginning to learn how to paint in color or should I say Hue 🙂 I took photographs of all these objects in my kitchen to help me keep the same perspective and lighting each time I worked on it. The orange gourd with all it’s bumps and blemishes is what I was looking forward to the most. I like to challenge myself and see what I am capable of. I finally accomplished it in 6 hours in a span of 2 or 3 days. And…. here it is!

This painting was inspired by Carol Marine. As a assignment we were required to look at some painters online that would inspire us. I really liked Carol Marine’s work and she did infact inspire me. This style is very similar to her’s and now I follow her blog daily! If anyone’s interested her link is below! http://carolmarine.blogspot.com

in the image is garlic, bell peppers, and an artichoke, painted in acrylic

autumn Wonder

Two Pumpkins, a little watermelon, and a small jar. My first attempt to paint a transparent object. Not to bad if I must say. Painted from life and used Acrylic.
